Bill SchmidtPresident and Founder

Bill started his insurance career as a Sales Representative with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 1989. From there, he moved to a small family agency and then on to Kaiser Permanente in 1995. Bill was the top Sales Representative at Kaiser before striking out with Mark to start SBIS in 1998.A Business School graduate of Virginia Tech, Bill now resides in Leesburg with his wife, three children, and one big hairy dog. In his spare time you’ll find him engaged in many of his children’s activities. With what little time he has left, he enjoys golfing, snowboarding, playing poker, running, and traveling.

Mark CarrollPrincipal and Founder

Mark began his insurance career in 1989 as a Sales Representative for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. In 1991 he moved to Kaiser Permanente where he held progressively more senior positions in Sales and Sales Management. In 1998, he joined Bill to start SBIS.Raised in northwestern Pennsylvania, Mark relocated to Virginia in 1987 and graduated from the George Mason University Business School. He has been married for 17 years, has three daughters and enjoys golfing, boating, and boxing.

Valerie JacksonAccount Manager

Valerie has been with SBIS since 2007. She attended Mary Washington University, and brings over 15 years of combined experience in the teaching and medical office fields as well as a genuine love of working with people.Valerie lives in Leesburg, Virginia. She has 2 children in college and 2 dogs still at home. When she has spare time, she greatly enjoys decorating projects and getting together with friends.
